Welp, it's a bummer School Days page got nuked. I was wondering how it held up for that long anyway. Stupid licensing companies. JAST? More like UNJUST! w/e.
Feeling bad for author's effort into porting  it and fixing all of the issues for all of it to be gone

Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it.

That said, please don’t take it out on JAST. It was completely within their right to ask me to take the project down, since it was infringing on their copyright and would've affected their upcoming School Days Remastered release (19/12/2025).

It's definitely sad that it had to end this way, especially after all the work that went into fixing and porting it to the web. I honestly hoped I might be able to help with the remaster somehow. I just really want to see it turn out great. But I'll admit, I'm a bit worried, especially hearing that it's apparently going to be a Windows 11 exclusive release doesn't exactly inspire confidence for its overall quality.

Like, I know Microsoft is deprecating support for everything before Win11, but is it really so hard to build your game for win7 to win11 for users that don't want to update their OS?

There are 20 year old games which run from XP to Win11 fine, so how can a 2025 release not do the same?

And as for Mac or Linux support... well, let's just say Japanese devs don't exactly have the best track record there. 💀

Oh... Would've never thought they were working on a remaster simultaneously with you porting this. Welp, yeah, it's in their justified legitimate interest to get your port off the platform then. But still sad!
And goddamn, windows 11 only XDDDDDD. What a joke lmao. That's going to be the only reason I can think of for upgrading to win11, in case they actually fix all the crashes and stuff - to play the game XD
But either way man, don't let that put you down! Port or no port, you've earned a spot in the hearts of many as a legend for attempting that! Still, some people are hyped up for seemingly abandonware Cross Days.
P.S: sorry for flooding comments of unrelated tool you posted with this stuff XD. First thought I'd email you, but then I saw there's a discussion taking place here already, so.. :P

It's so sad to see that School Days is no longer available 😔. It's a great work!

This, just came from seeing it got taken down omg😭 And what does this mean for Shiny Days, Cross Days and the custom engine in general???

The plan to port Shiny Days to web has been scrapped since I don't want to interfere with the sales of any existing releases of these games.

I am still working on translating Cross Days, so the custom engine hasn't gone to waste. From what I've seen the Japanese version isn't available for purchase, is unstable, crashes frequently, and has no official English release, so it appears to be abandonware.

Of course, I will be consulting with JAST USA about this before releasing anything publicly. So you might even see an official translation for the game one day depending on how that goes!

Great to hear, and this is a little later than I thought to ask about, but will there be any way of keeping up with Cross Days progress? It’s the third main game, and the only one not in english. The Strip games and Island Days aside, despite being curious about Island Days too and all, can stand aside pretty much, and I’m dying for a cohesive way to finally be able to say all 3 were playable from beginning to end (all routes) some day.

It’d be wonderful if they gave Cross Days the School Days or (even better,) Shiny Days treatment someday though. It’d be an opportunity to make Cross Days what they had wanted it to be back then but couldn’t achieve (The development history in consideration + all sorts of content shown pre-release and left over in the game files that clearly never made it into the final game, plus doing it now would be significantly higher quality too and all)

I'm working in a private github repo right now so the only updates are gonna be on my Itch.io page when I feel like there's enough progress to an update post. I also saw my game linked on the School Days subreddit (which is where JAST USA seems to have first found out about it) so I might post updates there as well.

As for the progress itself, I actually started translating a few months ago and picked it up again recently. Episode 1 is now fully translated (120 files total), with Episodes 2, 3, and 4 still ahead (about 1911 files left to go).

I'm not too interested for the other games since they are spin-offs and I doubt they run on FORIS so I'd have to make a new engine for that.

Also, Island Days is for Nintendo 3DS and I don't even wanna start to think about how I'd re-engineer that.

I also hope Cross Days would get a remaster someday, since that'd be the perfect chance for an official English release. You can tell the original was rushed, it barely works & there are tons of leftover files, even unfinished pre coloring stage line art still sitting in the game data. XD

Also, it's kinda funny to me how we're discussing School Days in the comments of this completely unrelated tool I made.

True! There’s just about no other ways to reach you other than your email, so this just felt the easiest! That being said, all in on agreement regarding the other games, Cross Days is the center-piece for now! It’s SUPER reassuring to hear that Episode 1 is fully translated, makes me super excited to hear about 2, 3 & 4 respectively down the line!
